Hash Trash Hockessin HHH 548th Run 12 March 05 St. Patty's Day Green Dress Run
It was a great day for the Irish—and for a bunch of us other hashers who don't have a drop of Hibernian blood in our veins. St. Patty's Day is the time for all of us to green-out, whoop it up, and beat the snot out of anybody who spills their Guiness. The hares did a fantastic job of mismanagement in true hasher spirit. Those who busted their collective asses on our behalf were Gomez, Self Service, Handful O'Cum, Deadhead, Sticky Fingers, Tastes Like Chicken (or smells like fish?), E=my cock squared, and Cunting Season. Necklaces and face stickers were distributed, and we all got leid—Hawaiian style fuzzy green leis, that is, while the happy and jolly bar tenders at Cavanaugh's River Deck were pumping out the Harp and Guiness suds. Lots of chips and pretzels helped us develop a good thirst. Cavanaugh's location is pretty neat—right there on the Delaware River almost in the shadow of the Ben Franklin Bridge. It was a good turnout with hounds from the H4, PH3, FBM, and the LBH3, and probably a couple more disreputable kennels along with some randy visitors. The H4 crowd was well represented by Mad Hatter, Roadkill, Wishboneher, Bitchard, Do Me on the Beach, Groper, Toxic Shock, Target, Thunder Thighs, Himalaya, Gomez, Yeswank, Pedalphile, Cribsnatcher, Delinkwent, Hornblower, Circle Jerk, Subpenis, Deadhead, and Sticky Fingers. There were, probably, a few more that I missed and for that my obligatory and insincere apologies. A high point in all the shenanigans was a prize for best green dress won by our own Thunder Thighs. Eventually, we oozed amoeba-like onto Columbus Blvd. until it was time to get on trail toward City Hall. We zoomed every whichway, careening through famous old Elfreth's Alley and westward ho until we looped around the Convention Center and created chaos at the Flower Show in progress. Lurching and staggering north and south took us to a beer stop at the Key West Saloon and a later pause for lime-green shooters in the park next to Independence Hall. After about an hour on trail we made it back to Cavanaugh's and more toasting the auld sod (which your scribe resents) until an excellent feed was set out buffet style. We had Irish stew along with great corned beef and cabbage. There was plenty of schmoozin and boozin to keep us going until the New York Irish band, "Shanty", livened up the river deck as the celebration continued.
