Trash for Hockessin Hash #1249
So So the slobbering pack gathered up at the Park N’ Shop shopping strip on South Main St (formerly Elkton Rd) in Newark, De for the annual Red, White and Blue Hash on the fine very warm 4th of July, 2018.
Hashers present included: NecroFeelMeUp, PubeHeAteHer, Wishboneher, Hare Today Cum Tomorrow, American Half Ass, Shit Out of Luck, Skidmarks, Do Me On the Beach, Lost Penis, Mary Fucking Poppins, Biatch, Raid R, Bunion Butt, Wet Lay, Cousin It, Wetter the Better, Asshopper, Magic Carpet Ride, Hot Pants, Pickle Dick, Tinsel Tits, Buttlite, Digital Dick, Jewels of Duhnile, and many, many others.
Our hares of the day were Perfect Woman, as usual for this one, Mount Me and Up the Rear, who had a rather interesting time while laying the marks they did say.  And so we hung out for a while sipping our brews, all of which were PBR’s in honor of the red white and blue labels.  And some of the Joint Chiefs did their thing too, right across the street from the municiple building and police station.  As they are becoming bolder and bolder every week, and seem not to any longer be able to go more than an hour without partaking.
Perfect Woman had a few t-shirts made for this event available for those who didn’t mind parting with 8 bucks and so we got a few of those, before finally our RA Wishboneher circled us up. And so our RA decided to give out a few pre-trail down downs to one of our interruptus- Hot Pants, who hasn’t seemed to have been with us for a few years, and to Jewels of Duh-nile for overachieving by attending 3 hashes in one day, this one being his third.  And after that business was taken care of, the chalk talked commenced.
Our hares explained to us to look for the usual marks.  And that all the false trails would be marked.  A lie that turned out to be.  We were told to expect several Turkey/Eagle splits, and we we told to expect a jello shot stop and a beer stop.  And to look for ribbons made of the American flag and three little flags, as this is a tradition with this trail for those who collect a few of these to get a prize at the end.  Soon enough we were off.
On! On!We followed the true trail down south main street in the direction of regular main street, or east main street as it is officially called here.  Pube found a check back six, about where the old laundry mat used to be, and so turned around counted back 6 marks and found more than one mark going in more than one direction nearby that.  Perfect Woman staying in the back with the Turkey walkers, which compose about 2/3rds of our group at this point, indicated which was the right way to go.
On! On!We ran over the Apple Rd bridge, also known as the 7-11 bridge, after that store which seems to be the only place in the whole city of Newark that hasn’t changed over the years.  On the other side of the bridge marks were detected going into the shiggy around the bridge, then underneath it we went. Until we came out on the other side and went through some more shiggy until we found ourselves on the property of the Newark chapter of the VFW where we found Mount Me passing out jello-shooters in front of the old WW2 tank, rumored to be the last one ever produced in the tank factory of Newark, which later became the Chrysler factory and later became the Star Campus..
And so we enjoyed some fine jello shooters which included a few interesting flavors like Rumchata and pineapple vodka.  Soon enough we were off.
On! On!We ran back into the shiggy under the bridge and on the CSX tracks for a few feet until trail was detected going out behind Newark Amercian Little League field and the Green Turtle restaurant, and going in a bunch of other directions, but Mount Me directed us in going through the back of the College Park Neighborhood, also known as the Dickey Park neighborhood, also known as Madison drive, also known as the Newark drive through for illegal narcotics.  Here we encountered many friendly residents, most of whom seemed to own enormously ferocious dogs.
On! On!Of course at one of the checks the eagles found marks going in one direction that apparently were supposed to be coming from another direction and which, I guess was part of the Turkey trail for later, as Perfect Woman saw us and told us we were going the wrong way,
On! On!We went back around the horseshoe known as Madison Drive from whenst we came then out onto Thorn Lane, which was once the home of yours truly, and where we found a Turkey/Eagle split.
The Turkeys went, I think, where the Eagles went earlier, while the Eagles followed marks around Thorn Lane, then out onto Casho Mill Rd until the Elkton Rd crossing, where we found a BVC mark.
On! On!We went across Elkton Rd finding a check and a few falses, not all of which appeared to me marked..  Trail went down the side road that goes along the Christina creek, and here the very exhausted Jewels of Duh-nile fell behind the rest of us and was not seen again until the end of the hash.
On! On!Trail went through the Devon Bins neighborhood all the way to the James F. Hall trail, some hashers taking the Chrysler Avenue route, and some going by way of Dallas Drive.  We went down the trail for a bit, until we encountered the Beer Near Mark at the playground at Phillips park, and in the parking lot Up the Rear was found with the beer.
And so, us sweaty hashers enjoyed some brews and some waters for a whiles whilst we recovered some.
Soon enough we were off.
On! On!The hares directed us to backtrack down the trail to the beginning of Apple Road where we found an arrow. We followed marks down Apple Road, and about this time the locals started lighting off their own fireworks all around us. Trail took a right and then a left through the drainage channel that runs through the middle of the neighborhood, and we got a taste of some more shiggy for a little bit as we had to crawl through a few downed trees.
On! On!At the end of the drainage channel we found the final turkey eagle split.  The eagle trail took a right and went somewhere around Orchard Rd before coming out to south main street or somewhere else and back to point A.  The turkey trail took a simple left then a right back onto Apple and back to point A.
One by one by two by three the slobbering pack straggled back to the end.  Beers were popped open while Perfect Woman waited impatiently for us across the street over by the tank at the VFW, where we were scheduled to circle/ Apres.  So after Perfect Woman yelled at us, most of us headed over there, except Cousin It, who managed to get lost somewhere for a half hour or so.
So, circle up we did on the VFW property facing the back of the Newark Police station..  Our RA Wishboneher ran circle. Awards and Penalties were dished out..  Songs were sung.  Down downs were done.  The hares drank a few times.  Hot pants and later Digital Dick drank for interruptus, and Digital also got a side side for his birthday and managed to not die.  Poor exhausted Jewels of Duh-nile had to drink again for attending 3 hashes that day or almost doing all of that.  Many other people drank for many other things, including two VFW members who were there to help set up the apres for us.
After circle was over, we enjoyed some fine dogs and burgers, along with some gumbo made by RaidR, some coleslaw, macaroni salad, chips and a few others things, like the Red, White and Blue cake to go along with our beer. Also soon after the annual 4th of July fire works over by the Carpenter center went off, and some of us enjoyed a few from atop the tank.  And Perfect Woman went to the trouble of mooning the police station across from us.
A fine ending to a damn shitty trail it was indeed. Stay tuned for Hockessin Hash #1250 this cumming Wednesday.
