What: Hash #370
When: Saturday, November 10, 2001 at 3:00pm, Butthead says: SHOW UP
ON TIME (directed at me I guess, but you always gotta wait for me,
the editor -- and more importantly, the person with the beer), we
will caravan to the start and hash somewhere. The hash will be an A
to B hash.
Where: Iron Hill Park in South Newark
Who: Butthead and friends
Dogs: Trail is dog friendly, providing there is room in the caravan
vehicle.
Why: Iron Hill has been a destination for humans for thousands of
years. Paleo-Indians frequented Iron Hill to acquire jasper for
arrowheads before heading down the Delmarva Penisula, where rocks are
infrequent. The native americans also used this isolated hill,
composed of gbarro from millions of years-old volcanic rock, as a
lookout over the area. Colonial Americans mined the jasper for, what
else, iron. The pits in the park are from both native and colonial
Americans. Today, the park has a reputation for providing a
different service for some men.
De'rections: Take I-95 South to Rt. 896 South. Turn right at the
first light onto Old Baltimore Pike. Proceed 5 miles to Whitaker
Road and turn right. Its about .4 miles to Iron Hill Park, park at
the lot near the entrance on your left.
